NEW DELHI: From being the only batsman to score to score 100 international hundreds to being the only cricketer to play 200 Tests, batting legend Sachin Tendulkar has numerous records to his name.
Tendulkar was the youngest player to debut for India in Tests at the age of 16 years and 205 days. Tendulkar made his Test debut against Pakistan in Karachi in November 1989, aged 16 years and 205 days.
And hence started a remarkable journey as Tendulkar went on to notch up one record after another.
When India toured England for a four-match Test series in 2002, Tendulkar was just 29 years of age.
When he took the field in the fourth and final Test of the series at The Oval, Tendulkar became the youngest cricketer to play 100 Tests.
Tendulkar scored 54 runs as India scored 508 in their first innings thanks to Rahul Dravid’s 217.
India drew the Test and the series 1-1 and this was their first Test series that they did not lose in England, since 1986.
Tendulkar was presented with a commemorative salver and an engraved nPower stump to mark his 100th Test appearance.
Tendulkar’s influence and records have made him a legend of the game, and his achievements stand unmatched even today.
