WHL’s Blades Make First Appearance In CHL Top Ten

Date:

With week five coming to a close, the Canadian Hockey League have released their final power rankings for the month of October. The Everett Silvertips continue to rise, the Saskatoon Blades are getting their flowers and the Prince George Cougars remain near the top.

Everett Silvertips (10 –> 4)

Easily the most substantial leap on this list, Everett deserves every bit of recognition they are getting. Currently riding a six game win streak and just one loss in their last ten games, the Silvertips have been nearly unstoppable. Goaltender Jesse Sanche was named the WHL’s Goaltender of the Week, carrying a 1.43 goals against average and a .948 save percentage over his last four games.

Prince George Cougars (4 –> 7)

The Cougars have more or less been treading water over the last week, hence the slight drop off, but they are still a formidable squad. Collecting points in six of their last eight contests, Prince George knows how to stay in a hockey game. Forward Riley Heidt made Cougars history, becoming the first player ever to reach 300 career points.

Saskatoon Blades (Unranked –> 9)

At long last, a team that many thought were being “snubbed” out of a spot, Saskatoon appears. Refusing to shake off their torrid start, the Blades have collected 12 of a possible 16 points in their last eight games. Leading scorer Ben Riche has stepped up even further, tallying 11 points on a six game streak of his own. As a unit, however, saying this team is difficult to beat is an understatement.
