Why €75m Osimhen still draws Premier League interest despite Galatasaray attempts

Victor Osimhen continues to attract Premier League interest and will reportedly be available for a €75m price tag in the summer transfer window, but that fee is still expected to be too high for his current employers, Galatasaray, even though the Turkish giants are working on a way to get a deal done.

Osimhen joined Galatasaray on a last-minute loan deal at the end of the summer transfer window after moves to Chelsea and the Saudi Pro League collapsed in spectacular fashion.

The Nigeria international has been on impressive form since his move to the Turkish Super Lig, netting six goals and two assists from six league outings, plus another two goals and an assist from his three Europa League appearances this term.

Why Osimhen’s permanent Galatasary move is unlikely

Though the release clause in Osimhen’s contract had once been set at €130m, he renegotiated the terms of his Napoli contract before leaving for Galatasaray, and the release clause for next summer has been dropped to €75m as a result.

According to outlets in Italy, including La Gazzetta dello Sport and Calciomercato.com, €75m is still too high for Galatasaray. Previous reports suggest that they could be able to go as high as €50m, or potentially involve other players in a sort of exchange deal.

Calciomercato.com, meanwhile, suggest that Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal are the Premier League sides most in need of a striker of Osimhen’s quality.

Sky Sport DE reporter Florian Plettenberg, meanwhile, suggests that Galatasaray are still attempting to get an agreement in place with Napoli ahead of the summer transfer window, even though they may have to get ‘creative’ with the structure of the deal.
