Will this weekend see a Manchester City legend return with a vengeance?

Kevin De Bruyne made his long-awaited return to action during Manchester City’s 4-1 defeat to Sporting CP on Tuesday evening. While City lost the game in emphatic fashion that was a positive to take from the game. But can the Manchester City legend make his impact felt this weekend against Brighton? Time and time again he has lifted when his team needs him the most. Now could be the perfect time for the Manchester City legend to once again lift his team.

Manchester City will take on Brighton at the Amex Stadium this weekend. It is another tough away trip for Pep Guardiola’s side. They have lost their past three games in all competitions to Tottenham, Bournemouth and Sporting CP. It does appear that the world champions need a lift. Kevin De Bruyne could be the player to provide that. It is something the Manchester City legend has done with regularity during his time at the club. Whether it is from the starting lineup or off the bench De Bruyne has inspired his team on many occasions.

Famously Kevin De Bruyne inspired Manchester City to a crucial 3-2 win over Newcastle United at St. James Park last season. His introduction off the bench late in that game was crucial to City’s win. He scored one and set up Oscar Bobb’s winner in an inspired performance. De Bruyne made his return that night after a 5-month injury layoff. This time, he is on the comeback trail after missing City’s last 10 games before his cameo appearance against Sporting. De Bruyne has famously shown before he can quickly return to his brilliant best. This weekend may be the ideal time for him to repeat the dose.

Manchester City do appear in need of a lift. Three consecutive losses have given that impression to anyone who follows the world champions. Kevin De Bruyne could be the perfect player to provide it. The Manchester City legend has done exactly many times across his City career. If he can do it again this weekend it could be a crucial factor in deciding a tough fixture at the Amex Stadium for Manchester City.
