Wisconsin basketball’s KenPom position shifted after its historic 31-point win over Iowa.
The Badgers defeated the Hawkeyes in record-breaking fashion on Friday night, improving to 11-3 and collecting their first Big Ten win of the 2024-25 campaign. Most significantly, the win provides the team with early momentum entering its conference gauntlet to close the season.
Despite not suiting up for a game in nearly two weeks, the Badgers looked as sharp as they have all season against the Hawkeyes. The team’s 116-point offensive explosion can be thanked for its significant rise in KenPom’s national rankings.
As of Jan. 4, here’s where the Badgers stand:
- KenPom: No. 25 (Up eight spots from its Dec. 22 win over Detroit Mercy), with the No. 11 offense and No. 80 defense in the country.

Wisconsin is now the No. 6-ranked Big Ten team in the hierarchy trailing only Illinois (No. 8), Michigan (No. 12), Michigan State (No. 15), UCLA (No. 19), Purdue (No. 21) and Maryland (No. 24).
Wisconsin continues its Big Ten gauntlet with a road game at Rutgers on Jan. 6. After that, the team returns to Madison for a Jan. 10 matchup against rival Minnesota.
