A woman shot and killed at a home in Shingletown has been identified as Jennifer Anne Sourp-Cain of Cloverdale by the Shasta County Coroner’s Office.
Sourp-Cain died the night of Oct. 24 at a home in the 3400 block of Side Bottom Road in Shingletown. She was 64.
The coroner’s office on Tuesday said Sourp-Cain’s next of kin had been notified and the agency had scheduled a post-mortem examination of the body.
Sourp-Cain’s death is under investigation, and a man has been charged with the slaying at his home. The sheriff’s office accuses Joseph Colin Scribner of shooting Sourp-Cain in the head with a shotgun.
Scribner, 46, made his first appearance in Shasta County Superior Court last week for arraignment. Scribner did not enter a plea, though.
Shasta County sheriff’s officials were called to Scribner’s Shingletown home and found a woman who was already dead of a gunshot wound, the sheriff’s office had said.
