Woman who ran fradulent telemarketing business arrested in Washington County

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ga. (WGXA) — A woman from Sandersville was arrested last week by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, and is facing 12 counts of Felony Theft by Deception.

32-year-old Destiny Danyell Magoon was arrested on April 30th, 2024, for operating a fraudulent telemarketing business that offered to create mementos for its customers.

Magoon faces these charges due to several complaints to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division.

Customers would mail in their irreplaceable items of deceased loved ones to Magoon, and they never received the product or the items back.

It is currently reported that there are over 200 victims from 25 states who were affected.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who believes they may have been a victim of this scam to come forward and contact them.
