McPHERSON, Kan. — A tough start to the season for the 2024-25 season for the Bulldogs continued Saturday night (Nov. 23) as they fell to the Ottawa University Braves to drop to 0-8 on the season.
The offense for the Bulldogs struggled to generate much of any momentum, shooting at just a 21% clip in the opening quarter while their defense showed up and played strong, limiting a high powered Ottawa offense to just 26% from the field. The lid came off the basket for the Braves in the second quarter, raising their FG% to 37% while nailing a trio of three pointers to push their halftime lead to 35-26.
The Braves continued to light up the scoreboard, shooting at a 43% clip in the third quarter and at a 50% clip in the fourth quarter to continue to push their lead out. The Bulldogs were able to make a dent in the lead, going on a 7-0 run with 3:33 remaining in the third, but the Braves answered back and just kept the foot to the floor to take down the Bulldogs, 82-66.
Kennedy Smith led all scorers with a season best 17 points to go along with 6 rebounds. Gillian Rodgers continues her hot start to KCAC play with a 15 point outing.
McPherson hits the road for a non-conference clash with Cottey College on Tuesday, November 26. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
