Women’s Basketball Releases 2024-25 Schedule – Oakland University Athletics

ROCHESTER, Mich.After what was an overall exciting 2023-24 season, the Golden Grizzlies are back with a new look as the Oakland University women’s basketball team has announced its schedule for the 2024-2025 season, with the schedule featuring 12 home games and 15 road games.

Season Openers: The season will tip off with a rematch against in-state foe Michigan State university on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. in East Lansing. Oakland will host their first game at the OU Credit Union O’rena the very next game on Friday, Nov. 8 at 11 a.m. against Cleary as they look to follow up on a record-breaking 59-point victory in last season’s matchup with the Cougars.

Non-Conference Highlights: The Golden Grizzlies will continue a thrilling start of the season with a fun slate of non-conference games. On Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 6 p.m. the squad will travel to West Point, N.Y. as they go head-to-head with Army for the first time in school history. They follow up with another Big Ten opponent in Michigan as they head to Ann Arbor (Sunday, Nov. 17 at 2 p.m.), another first time matchup as they host St. Thomas (Minn.) on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 4 p.m., and one final non-conference rematch from 2023 as they meet with the Central Michigan Chippewas, who Oakland bested with some late game heroics last season, on Sunday, Nov. 24 at 1 p.m.

The Golden Grizzlies also will throw their names into the Coast 2 Coast Classic on Nov. 29-30, with opponents TBD. Their final non-conference showdown will be against the Hoosiers on Sunday, Dec. 22 at 2 p.m. in Bloomington.

In-Conference Showdowns: After an 8-12 record in conference play during 2023-24, the Golden Grizzlies start their journey to take the next step towards a higher conference seed on Friday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. as they host Wright State. After their Horizon League opener, Oakland embarks on a three game road trip as they take on Robert Morris (Dec. 18) and Northern  Kentucky (Dec. 29), with the Indiana Game sandwiched in between. Following the pattern, they’ll host three straight against Cleveland State (Jan. 3), Purdue Fort Wayne (Jan. 5), and IU Indy (Jan. 8), before another three game road trip at Detroit Mercy (Jan. 11), Milwaukee (Jan. 16), and Green Bay (Jan. 18), completing their first of two matchups with every league opponent.

With round two against every league opponent under way, Oakland will nearly split their last 11 games between home and on the road, hosting Robert Morris (Jan. 23), Detroit Mercy (Feb. 1), Milwaukee (Feb. 13), Green Bay (Feb. 15), and close out the year with two of their final three games at home as they face Youngstown State (Feb. 22) and Northern Kentucky (Mar. 1). They will travel for six of those final 11 games, playing on opposing soil against Youngstown State (Jan. 26), Purdue Fort Wayne (Feb. 6), Cleveland State (Feb 8), Wright State (Feb. 19), and IU Indy (Feb. 26).

The team has a new look with 10 new additions to the roster, as they look to return to the Horizon League Tournament.
