Zambia – A Zambian octogenarian grandmother has become an online hit, thanks to her granddaughter. Margaret Chola, from rural Zambia, is now an online star with 60,900 Instagram followers under the name ‘Legendary Glamma.’ Her stylish photos are part of the Granny Series, created by her granddaughter Diana Kaumba. The series started in 2023 when Diana visited Zambia. They swapped clothes – Chola wore high-fashion outfits, and Diana dressed in traditional Zambian clothing. The photos, taken on their farm near Lusaka, have delighted Chola, mixing village life with modern style.
USA – Drake showed off a new haircut on Instagram after fans mocked his pigtails and hair clips, calling it a ‘midlife crisis.’ His followers were excited about the change, with many praising the new look and joking about his ongoing issues.
Venezuela – The Venezuelan government released 70 people who had been jailed during protests against the disputed July election, according to the rights group Foro Penal. Fifty of them were freed from Tocorón prison in Aragua, with others released from three different prisons. Protests erupted after President Maduro’s controversial re-election, which faced criticism both within Venezuela and internationally. More than 1,800 people were arrested, and Human Rights Watch reported 24 deaths during the protests.
USA – US President Joe Biden has agreed to let Ukraine use American ATACMS missiles, following the usual pattern of initially refusing, then giving in after pressure from Ukraine. There are not many missiles available, and they have a range of 100 km, so they might not make a significant impact in the war. Many Russian targets are in range, but it remains uncertain how effective the missiles will be.
