Wrexham have signed free agents Jon Dadi Bodvarsson and Matty James on short-term deals until January.

Striker Bodvarsson, capped 64 times by Iceland, provides cover in attack following injuries to Jack Marriott and Steven Fletcher.

Bodvarsson, 32, has been without a club since being released by Wrexham’s League One rivals Bolton Wanderers in the summer.

Midfielder James, 33, has also been searching for a club after leaving Bristol City last July, having made more than 100 appearances for the Ashton Gate side since joining from Leicester City in 2021.

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson said: “With injuries to George Evans, Jack Marriott and Steven Fletcher, it was important to bring them in, and we look forward to working with the two of them.”

Wrexham have not announced if the pair will be registered in time to be considered for the squad for Saturday’s league trip to Charlton Athletic.
