Young designer headlines the fashion world | Rising Sun Newspapers

Date:

Jordan Titus Israel (20), a designer from Durban, made waves nationwide and internationally when he embarked on a new project and recreated an extremely prestigious ‘red carpet’ outfit, which is unique in the world. The outfit, which took an entire ‘dream team’ of Nigerian designers to create, costing between R120, 000 and R130, 000, has been recreated by Israel.

The costume was inspired by one of five looks, which South African celebrity, Bonang Matheba pulled off last year at the Miss South Africa pageant grand finale.

Israel said, “The designing and creation process was a tough one. I have suffered a lot of back sprains, eye strain, hot glue burns, blade cuts, and sleepless nights for over 50 hours, but it was worth it in the end.”

The glamorous ‘Eagle queen dress’ has been viewed thousands of times and has gained the attraction of major global superstars, such as South African singer and songwriter, Tyla, American singer/ songwriter, Chloe Bailey, South Africa’s newly crowned Miss South Africa, Mia Le Roux, Bonang Matheba, and many more.

The dress was recreated by designer, Jordan Israel, and worn by fashion model, Tessa Israel.

This is a big achievement and a huge stepping stone in the fashion industry, long considered a niche market for international design enthusiasts. Only two of these mind-blowing masterpieces exist in the world, with one standing in the museum of Bonang Matheba and the other which has been curated by Israel in Durban.

The young designer is the founder and director of an award-winning media company based in Durban, which specialises in photography, videography, cinematography, costume design, and much more and he believes the creation of this garment is a huge achievement towards the brand.

“The making of this beautiful masterpiece shows that one can be innovative, creative and imaginative, having an extremely positive outcome while still being efficient in the fashion industry,” added Israel.

The price tag for the dress stands at $7000 US dollars, which is roughly between R120, 000 and R130, 000 depending on the exchange rate, but the replica was recreated from recycled materials.

“This serves as an inspiration to all and is a testament that anything is possible if you put your mind to it. Perseverance, consistency, and a strong mind are the three things which can allow great things to happen,” ended Israel.
