This morning, the Capricorn moon and Saturn link up to boost your resolve and determination. You’re likely to feel irritated by vague platitudes and empty promises: You don’t need beautiful words now, but action. If others aren’t doing enough, don’t sit around stewing and wishing they were better — you have the power to take action yourself, to bring people together, to change your life one step at a time.

Lately, the more you’ve tried to brush off your mistakes or failures, the more they’ve weighed on you. As hard as you work to stave off the shame or regret, they still manage to creep into your thoughts. So today, stop running away from the “bad” thoughts and feelings, and sit with them instead. When all you want to do is move forward, mulling over the past can feel like a waste of time — but right now, you’ll find that a bit of reflection will only help you in your journey.

When you’re stuck in a rut, a single, dramatic action is often the quickest way to shake yourself loose — you can quit your job or pick a fight or move to a new city, and all at once, things are happening. Today, though, it’s probably better to take the slow route. If you’re feeling unfulfilled, make a long-term plan to change that — and stick to it. If you’re feeling lonely, commit to gradually building up the kind of community you’ve been longing for. Remember there’s no rush.

Normally, you’re good at finding joy in life’s small moments, but lately you’re hungry for something more. You don’t want to spend your whole life just messing around — you need a greater purpose, a sense that your actions matter. Today, if you heed your desire for meaning, it’ll point you toward what you should be doing — and, just as importantly, away from the things that are draining or distracting. This doesn’t mean you have to be serious and productive in every moment, just that you deserve an overall arc that feels fulfilling.

It’s important to you to be reliable, so you do your best not to make promises you can’t keep. But sometimes the circumstances change — or you change. You discover that you no longer have the capacity you once did, or you no longer care about the same things you used to. And while you could power through it, forcing yourself to stay in a situation that’s no longer working for you, that isn’t ultimately helpful for anyone involved. There’s no shame in changing your mind — and today, the people you’re closest to might help you realize that it’s time to try something different.

You understand that you can’t control other people — try as you might, you can’t make anyone else do what you want — so you do your best to focus on your own actions. But sometimes, even you fall short. After all, nobody can be perfectly disciplined all the time; the world’s too chaotic and our emotions are too powerful for that. Today, be gentle with yourself if you’re struggling to do everything exactly the way you think you “should.” Trust that doing your best is enough.

You sometimes worry you’ll damage your relationships by saying the “wrong” thing — you’ll express yourself too forcefully, share an opinion the other person doesn’t like, or simply misread a situation. But today, you’re more likely to create problems if you let your fears prevent you from speaking up at all. It’s better now to express yourself, however imperfectly, than to hold back. All relationships have their share of awkward moments, disagreement, and confusion. Getting through them together is how you grow closer.

You know that your time is precious, but even so, it’s easy to waste it. You spend hours on work you don’t enjoy or find meaningful, or catering to people who don’t support you. There are so many activities you do only out of habit, or out of some vague sense that they’re what you’re “supposed” to do. So right now, get serious about how you organize your days. If you quit doing the things you don’t care about, you’ll find so much more time for the ones that you do.

Some problems are incredibly complicated; if you’re going to overcome them, you need to put in deep thought and careful analysis. Others, though, are much simpler than they seem; you already know what you need to do, but you avoid taking action because it’s difficult, or you’re scared, or you wish there was another alternative. If you commit to moving forward today — no more self-doubt or overthinking — you might find that everything gets more rewarding.

It’s easy enough to have a sense of adventure when you’re feeling confident, or you have resources to fall back on, or you’ve simply gotten a good night’s sleep. But when you’ve already drained your emotional reserves or material resources, risk-taking becomes scarier. Today, don’t be ashamed to take a step back if you need to rest and regroup. You might worry that caring for yourself is merely self-indulgence, but if you want to remain brave and purposeful and effective in the long term, it’s vital.

You don’t always trust your intuition; it seems smarter to stick to your careful plans than to deviate from them based on a random impulse. But today, have a little more faith in yourself. Your instincts aren’t random or baseless — even if you can’t pinpoint where they’re coming from, they’re coming from somewhere. You’re observant and thoughtful, and your judgment is sound.

Sometimes it’s annoying when the people around you praise your strength and resilience. While part of you knows they’re right — you are uncommonly brave and independent! — there’s another, softer part of you that doesn’t want to be so strong all the time, that would rather be supported. But thanks to your competent, self-sufficient exterior, it’s possible that your friends don’t even realize how much you’d welcome their help. Today, value yourself enough to recognize that you shouldn’t have to do it all on your own.

While it can be dangerous to place too much importance on the way others see you — the more you rely on others to augment your self-confidence, the more power they have to diminish it, too — it’s unreasonable to expect yourself to be fully self-reliant. Today, the more you can connect with the people around you, the better you’ll feel about yourself. It’ll remind you that you aren’t the only person who has ever felt this way, that there are people who care about you.
