Your Weekly Tarot Card Reading Isn’t Too Scary, I Promise

Date:

You don’t need to know the difference between a three-card and a Celtic cross spread to get the most out of a tarot card reading. All you need: your Sun sign! Here’s what I do: Shuffle my tarot deck and pull out the cards in order from Aries to Pisces, plus one general card for everyone so that you can get specific advice around your personality. Let’s go!

A GENERAL CARD FOR EVERYONE: SEVEN OF WANDS

Margie Rischiotto+Rider-Waite

The New Moon in Scorpio, Samhain, and Halloween are happening this week, and all of these events stimulate our appetite for the occult, the unknown, the hidden, and the secret. The Seven of Wands adds a little challenge to this mix. Maybe you’re feeling like it’s time to flex your psychic abilities, visit a tarot reader (hi!), conduct a séance, or just walk around in the woods communing with nature. Give yourself a goal relating to finding out more about yourself, your intuition, or your purpose. This is a week when the veil between the worlds is thinnest. You’ll be surprised by what you can see when you look with more than your eyes.

ARIES: THE LOVERS

Margie Rischiotto+Rider-Waite

Your psychic mission is to figure out your intention for your love life and closest relationships. As a fire signs, you’re always feeling passionate about someone or something. But recently, you’ve been torn between more than one passion, and it’s not a tenable situation. Yes, I’m talking about a love triangle! You don’t want to play games, break hearts, or sacrifice something good for something fleeting. Take a pause. Figure out who or what you want the most, and align your actions accordingly.

TAURUS: TEN OF PENTACLES

Margie Rischiotto+Rider-Waite

You’re gazing into the future this week and thinking hard about your foundations—I’m talking about health, wealth, work, and home. Security and certainty are important to you. You want to know where you’re headed, how you’re getting there, and the rewards that will come. The Ten of Pentacles gives you a vision of the long-term future—I’m talking about where you’ll live, what you’ll do for work, how you’ll feel, and what kind of resources you need. This vision can be your blueprint for the choices you need to make right now and in the future. This is a game-changer!

GEMINI: TWO OF CUPS

Margie Rischiotto+Rider-Waite

You’re all about duality—your symbol is the twins, after all. The Two of Cups represents two becoming one, not in the sense of losing yourself, but in being mutually supportive. You love being in a happy twosome, be that in your love life, friendship circle, family, or workplace. You are a greater partner on all levels. There’s someone close by this week who can play that role for you. They can be your ally and help you reach a new level of achievement and satisfaction, while you do the same for them. Don’t waste your time on players, users, and frenemies. Find your person (hint: They could be a water sign).

CANCER: ACE OF SWORDS

The “thinning of the veil” going on right now also applies to your own psyche. Whatever has been hidden or suppressed will emerge this week. The Ace of Swords is a card of total honesty. It reveals it’s time to speak to your shadow self, ask it what it needs from you, and show compassion. This secret side of you represents unhealed and unacknowledged traits and trauma, pushed down into darkness. It is typically childlike and un-socialized, but it holds no malice; it always wants to protect you. Find out how you can help it heal and ultimately rest.

LEO: SEVEN OF CUPS

New Moons always give you a powerful surge of creativity and a rush of imaginative ideas. The Seven of Cups shows that this New Moon will be like no other! So get your journal out and record everything that runs through your waking—and sleeping—mind. Pay attention to your dreams and daydreams. Jot down symbols, thoughts, images, and ideas. It might not make sense right now, but in the coming month, it will lead to something huge.

VIRGO: FIVE OF CUPS

The unseen psychic energy swirling around you right now has a slightly sad tinge, says the grieving Five of Cups. You might feel all the feels this week, Virgo, and that’s okay. Release your emotions, name them, express them, and let them pass by, no matter how heavy or dark they initially feel. You tend to bottle things up, and it just means that the burden gets heavier. Talk about all that has saddened you this year and leave it in the past. Then, you can look ahead to 2025 with renewed vitality and fresh hope.

LIBRA: THE HERMIT

The Hermit suggests that you’re itching to start some kind of holistic or esoteric study. You are an eternal student, thanks to your sharp and enquiring mind. This is a solo project, something you do alone and for yourself only. Maybe it’s tarot, meditation, naturopathy, or yoga. Let your intuition guide you towards what interests you and feels like it would benefit your mind, body, and spirit.

SCORPIO: QUEEN OF SWORDS

Although Swords represents the air element in the zodiac and you’re a water sign, I’ve always felt the Queen of Swords has Scorpio energy—the direct, independent, even ruthless characteristics you’re known for. Her presence in your world gives you great power and strength. You can persuade others, influence a situation, force a decision your way, and make an impact with your presence. Think carefully about where you want to show up and what you want out of situations. Conserve your energy and project it where it counts. You have true power this week.

SAGITTARIUS: SEVEN OF SWORDS

Your psychic senses are twitching this week. You’re learning something about someone you’ve long had suspicions about. They aren’t to be trusted. You knew it! Your gut instinct was right. So, act on this. Don’t carry on being open and vulnerable to peolpe who don’t deserve your presence. Withdraw, set boundaries, limit contact, sever ties—do whatever feels right for you. It’s time to protect yourself.

CAPRICORN: THREE OF PENTACLES

Capricorn, your charisma is magnetic right now. People are drawn towards you! They want to be in your company and they feel like offering you invitations and opportunities. Say “yes” to everything! This kind of demand only comes around once in a while, so be social, be visible, and don’t shy away from all the attention. I know it can be a bit draining, but see this as stockpiling opportunities to that will last you for a long, long time. You can rest next week, okay?

AQUARIUS: QUEEN OF WANDS

You’re feeling excited, adventurous, optimistic, and ready to get out and about. This week, go explore new places (haunted houses, maybe?) and ideas (the esoteric arts, perhaps?). The curious and brave Queen of Wands is here to guide you. Dare to do something wild and magical. This Queen is up for anything, much like yourself, and her presence ensures that wonderful opportunities will come your way as soon as you step off the beaten path. It’s time to venture forth into the unknown. Anything is possible!

PISCES: FIVE OF SWORDS

All phases of the Moon affect your sign, because your tarot card is the Moon. This Scorpio New Moon stirs up your true desires. You’re realizing how deeply you’ve suppressed or denied some of them, maybe to keep the peace with others or shape-shift to suit someone else. Well, those days are over! The Five of Swords sees you facing a mini-conflict to shift the dynamics at play. You want to run your own agenda and follow your passions, not someone else’s. Stick to your guns here, Pisces.
