πŸŽ₯ Marta gets her moment as Orlando Pride win first NWSL Shield

Orlando Pride lifted their first National Women’s Soccer League Shield on Sunday after beating second-place Washington Spirit 2-0.

Star veteran and Brazil legend Marta led the celebrations after the full-time whistle, finally lifting the trophy while wearing purple after joining in 2017.

Holding the all-time goals and appearance record, it was fitting that her penalty went down as the winning goal for the club’s first piece of silverware.

Tara McKeown’s own goal secured the hosts’ victory in front of 7,729 fans.

Orlando, meanwhile, can continue to make more history this season with three games to go. Currently, on 57 points, the club remains undefeated and clinched their first playoff appearance since 2017.

Games against Portland Thorns, Gotham FC and Seattle Reign remain.
