🚨 Austin FC set to move on from veteran striker Gyasi Zardes

Date:

Austin FC are reportedly set to buy out the contract of veteran MLS and USMNT striker Gyasi Zardes, according to Tom Bogert.

The 33-year-old is 10th all-time leading scorer in MLS history with 106 regular season goals, but had a quiet 2024 campaign with just three goals in 33 appearances.

Zardes has made 68 caps with the U.S. men’s national team, but has not featured for his country since 2022.

The buyout will free up salary cap space for Austin heading into the 2025 campaign as they look to retool after failing to qualify for the MLS Cup Playoffs.

Zardes will, in turn, be available as a free agent.
